When do you determine if the organization needs training?

Training is one of the principal means to ensure that the organization is updating its skills and is acquiring the expertise needed to deliver and to compete in the industry. Training is required in a wide variety of areas involving the organization’s work. Employees may need training for honing their technical skills. They could need it to improve their communication with each other and with the external parties. They could require it for understanding how to understand customers’ needs and expectations better. In many organizations, employees may need to be trained with how to deal with employees of other ethnicities. Or, they could also need to be trained on how to assimilate culturally into the organization, and so on.

Training being a matter of critical importance, the organization can look for telltale signs that its employees need training. In a sense, identifying the training needs for the organization starts at the time of the interview. If HR or other interviewing leads or managers feel that a candidate is good in all respects but is insufficient when it comes to just specific areas of work, behavior or outlook, a training need is already identified.
