An IIT Graduate Sold himself on Flipkart for job
An IIT Graduate Sold himself on Flipkart for job: You want to get your hands on your dream job and with so much competition in the “job” market, you make sure your resume is perfect. There is an insane pressure on you to make your resume stand out from others. What if you add a creative and cheeky flair to it?
In a bid to land a job in the E-commerce giant Flipkart, an IIT-Kharagpur alumni Aakash Neeraj Mittal, literally tried to “sell himself”. He had a rather clever and hilarious way to submit his resume for a product management vacancy at Flipkart.
Harsh Bajaj, who was Mittal's junior at IIT Kharagpur, said in a Quora post: A senior of mine used this really interesting way to make his resume for Flipkart by putting himself for sale on the online e-commerce giant! Literally tried to 'sell himself '."
Mittal listed himself as a product with a price of Rs.27,60,200 only and described himself as ‘artistic by heart’, ‘entrepreneurial mind-set’ and ‘intellectually curious’.
He said, “When you are a 6-pointer and competing with best of the best minds of the country, you know how hard it is to land a job. You start doing some crazy and random stuff to stand out from the crowd. This is my resume for Flipkart’s APM Profile. I didn’t get an interview call though, but I hope it will bring a smile on someone’s face.”
Akash’s novel idea may have landed a smile on someone’s face. On the other hand, it depicts the saddening reality of unemployed youth in the country, especially engineers. Although, the screen grab of Aakash’s Flipkart ad is all over social media, he has deleted his profile from the company’s website. He didn’t receive any interview call from the company and is still reportedly unemployed.
