What are the Disadvantages of a Pellet Stove?

Pellet stove is an environment-friendly substitute of your traditional gas or wood fireplaces. It works as a modern electric appliance that eco-friendly while being convenient to use and cost-effective.

Well, in the earlier times, gathering, chopping, and storing wood for fires and for keeping the houses warm during winters was always difficult for families. However, this problem got solved by the best pellet stoves. Now you wouldn’t rely on the low-efficient wood heaters for surviving in the cold nights.

Moreover, the smoke that evolves from burning of wood in wood fireplaces can cause various health effects on the people who’re sitting around the fire as well as for the people living in the surroundings and the entire ecosystem.

Well, pellet stoves have been designed to remove all such burdens and harshness that your traditional fireplace may bring. However, there are numerous advantages of pellet stoves as we discussed above but at the same time, there are a few disadvantages of using pellet stoves. Let’s discuss about them.

The Costs are High –

One of the major disadvantages of the pellet stoves is the cost of pellet stoves. Pellet stoves in Ireland are very expensive as you need to pay around 1,500 USD for a home of about 1,000 square feet. In fact, people with larger homes may require larger models which will be even more costly.

It has Storage Issue –

Pellet stoves require a large space because the pellets which you’ll be using as fuel in the pellet stoves are available in large bags or boxes which must be stored. Hence, your house will require a large storage capacity to stock the pallets up otherwise it may require multiple trips to purchase them.

The Availability of Pellets is also an Issue –

Pellets are not very easily available in the local markets. That means, sometimes you might easily purchase a stove and also easily install it in your home. In fact, you might have the required capacity on your property to store the pellets properly. But, the real issue is where will you get the pellets from?

As we mentioned, the pellets are not easily available in some areas hence you should checkout that if there are some businesses in your district that sell pellets. However, to resolve this issue, you can also order them online to get them on time and avail the benefits of pellets.

Pellet Stove Uses Electricity –

The efficient use of pellet stove requires a backup generator. So, you may need to purchase a backup generator if you don’t already have one because these stoves work on electricity and they will cease to function if there is a power cut. This makes the use of pellet stove more expensive and quite unreliable for some people.

Some Pellet Stoves are Noisy –

Most of the pellets stoves generate noise and with time it becomes very irritating. In fact, the best pellet stoves in Ireland sometimes create more sound than a furnace or fireplace. However, with time, most of the families become accustomed to the noise but some of them really don’t. And such people generally stop using the product after some time. However, the sound is actually calming for a lot of people therefore always check before bringing it home that whether you would like the noise or not.
